World Book Day 2015

World Book Day has been a very exciting and busy day here at Exwick Heights Primary School, with both staff and children dressing up as their favourite book characters. The costumes were amazing and really helped to start the day in style!

During the day, pupils at Exwick Heights were delighted to spend time working alongside Barbara Spencer, author of numerous children’s books including ‘A Fishy Tail’, ‘The Bird Children’ and ‘The Amazing Brain of O C Longbotham’, which has been nominated for ‘The People's Book Prize’ Winter 2014. Barbara worked with the children to develop their understanding surrounding the creation of a book, from pen to print.

As well as working with Barbara, the children took part in a wide range of activities, from book swaps, potion making, cookery to a variety of weird and wonderful Roald Dahl based tasks and Egyptian reading.

It has certainly been a day to remember which has further enhanced the children’s enjoyment of books and reading!
